Knowledge retention of legacy systems within the railway industry

During the celebrations for the IRSE Irish Section’s 10th anniversary, Isván Darászi from Irish Rail delivered a presidential lecture, recorded for release to members this month.

Isván’s engaging presentation talks about the challenges and importance of knowledge retention for legacy systems within the railway industry and is now available to view on our Vimeo channel.

Next Presidential Lecture

15 January 2025; London, UK

The next presidential lecture will continue the theme of ‘Unsung Heroes’ within the railway signalling and communications industry. Andrew Lockyear, Neel Basudev and Colin Pickett will present on 25 years of ‘Connecting the Underground’.

This is an in-person event at TfL Office Endeavor Square in London starting at 18:00 (please arrive from 17:30). The lecture will also be live-streamed and  recorded for later viewing on our Vimeo channel.

IRSE professional exam 

Booking for the 1 March 2025 exam open this month.

Please keep an eye on our LinkedIn page and our website exam pages, where the opening of bookings for the Certificate (Module A) will be announced.

Results

Results for the October 2024 exam will be released soon. Results for Modules B-D are currently being processed, with no specific release date available yet.

Candidates will be updated as soon as more information is available.

ASPECT 2025

2 – 5 December 2025; Yokohama, Japan

There are many ways to get involved in ASPECT 2025!

All are invited to submit abstracts for papers. With over 50 papers planned for the event, there’s a great opportunity to contribute across a diverse range of subjects. 

IRSE Younger Members are invited to apply for bursaries to help towards their travel and accommodation costs. Younger Members are also invited to submit their “innovation ideas” to pitch to a panel of judges.
