Tools for the automation of engineering
SAVE THE DATE – 14 March 2025
We are planning a seminar on 14 March 2025 on tools for the automation of engineering tasks including design, test, installation and maintenance.
These cutting-edge technologies have the potential to revolutionise the way we design, install, test, operate and maintain our railway systems. There are already fantastic developments taking the toil out of repetitive tasks, enhancing productivity, working faster and more accurately than is “humanly” possible.
With a shortage of skilled engineers, we need these tools to keep projects and railways running.
If you are using or developing one of these tools then please share your innovation with the rest of the community. We are looking for presentations of around 20 minutes.
Please email seminars@irse.org to get in touch.

Looking back – Ladbroke Grove rail crash
It’s been 25 years since the Ladbroke Grove rail crash on 5 October 1999 when 31 people were killed and 417 injured after two passenger trains collided almost head-on when one of them had passed a signal at danger. Read more about the incident and lessons learned in this article.
The IRSE is committed to protecting the safety of all those who travel and work on railway systems worldwide. We believe it is important to remember and learn from the lessons of the past as our industry strives to fulfil this ambition.
