IRSE Annual General Meeting 2026
22 April 2026; Manchester, UK
Join us this April at the University of Manchester for the IRSE AGM and inauguration of President elect Rod Muttram FIRSE.
The first Presidential Lecture will follow the meeting in the new series, ‘Human Factors in the Age of Automation’, delivered by Professor Sarah Sharples, Vice President and Dean of Science and Engineering at the University of Manchester.
The AGM will start at 15:00 (UTC +1) and will be live-streamed for those attending online. Networking drinks and dinner will follow.

Presidential lecture
1 April 2026; Wellington, NZ
Join us for the next Presidential lecture, ‘Connecting the Dots: My journey toward becoming a well-rounded signalling engineer’, presented by Vinoth Rajamani MIRSE (KiwiRail).
Vinoth will take us through the early days of his career, reflect on what helped him become a more well-rounded signalling engineer, and explain why he believes this requires comprehensive exposure across the entire project lifecycle.

Phillip Spedding AMIRSE (Queensland Rail) will present, ‘Reverse-engineering ‘Why?’: A case for tracing requirements to hazards in existing standards’.

This change supports our commitment to reducing paper consumption, lowering the carbon emissions and environmental impact associated with printing and mailing, while also improving efficiency and ensuring you receive your renewal information promptly.

Between now and 30 April you have the opportunity to change to or from e-membership. (Please note that e-members do not receive a printed copy of IRSE News, but can access the latest edition online by logging into the website at any time.)

Members’ Lunch

This is a great opportunity for both active and retired members to meet in an informal atmosphere, learn of developments within the IRSE and discuss the latest signalling technologies. We will also be presenting awards to members who have made a significant contribution to the IRSE this year.
