Fourth Presidential lecture

Join us for the fourth presidential lecture in Bogdan Godziejewski’s Presidential year on the theme ‘Engaging Generation Unlimited’.
Maryam Akbari (Alstom) will present, ‘Preparing the Next Generation of Railway Professionals: Insights Into Skills and Mentorship’.
This will be an in-person event in Toronto, Canada – limited tickets are available. We will announce whether livestreaming is possible nearer the time and the lecture will be recorded for later viewing.

Wayside Digitalisation Forum 2025

Volunteer at RIA SigEx 25

Building on the success of last year’s event, SigEx 2025 will take place at the York Racecourse this October and is open to everyone involved in railway signalling, along with professionals from related industries.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help support our exhibition table. This is a great opportunity to spend some time with fellow IRSE members, network with other professionals in our industry and help us reach new members.

IRSE Minor Railways Section: Visit to Great Cockrow Railway

IRSE Midland & NW Section: TransPennine route upgrade ETCS

John Batty, Head of Digital-ERTMS (TransPennine Express) will discuss TransPennine Express’s plans to introduce ETCS into its operation in line with Digital Railway deployments across the North of England. This is a joint event hosted together with the iMechE at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The four standard-gauge infrastructure managers in Switzerland will present their detailed ERTMS implementation plan, which they submitted to the Federal Office of Transport (FOT/BAV).
IRSE Scottish Section: Managing Scotland’s SPAD risk

Carole Markou, Signalling Review & Risk Engineer (Network Rail) will present an evening lecture on managing Scotland’s SPAD risk after Ladbroke Grove.
IRSE London & SE Section: The Radio Access Network in the world’s largest CBTC project
