IRSE(HK)Technical Forum - Title: Recent advances in metro CBTC projects

Abstract: Alstom has recently commissioned 3 CBTC metro lines. This paper will present the more significant innovations implemented on these projects. In particular the subjects covered will include the renovation strategy used in the 2-year Beijing Line 2 resignalling, the train control strategy for dealing with the 12% slope of Lausanne line M2 and the radio propagation technique for integrating multimedia with CBTC in the 2.4 GHz band. These solutions will be compared with other technical options and the lessons learnt from these projects will be presented.
